Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program is structured for those who are challenged with alcohol and drug addictions. The goal is to assist clients or participants in developing skills for making responsible decisions about personal substance use.
The SAIOP program consists of structured individual, group, and family therapy services provided on an outpatient basis designed to assist clients/participants with addiction disorders in beginning recovery and learning skills for recovery maintenance. The program also assists in community resources, benefits, wellness, and recovery. SAIOP also emphasizes education and skill-building and participates in community support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) for additional support and networking.
SAIOP meets a minimum of 9 hours per week over a minimum of 3 days per week with up to two consecutive days without services being offered equally out to be at least 3 hours each day. SAIOP is usually provided for three months. The program will be tailored to meet the client's/participant's needs by developing a Person-Centered Plan that helps to identify their goals, needs, and preferences in treatment.
Clinicians use evidenced-based, person-centered interventions. These commonly include Matrix Model, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Client-Centered Therapy, and Reality Therapy.

Program Outline
Daytime Program: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday – 9 am – 12 pm
Evening Program: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday – 5 pm – 8 pm
This program is for clients who have completed the SAIOP program. This step-down program has clients/participants completing 3 hours of group therapy within a week. Clients will complete one and a half hours of group therapy within two days of the week.
The main goal of this program is to emphasize Relapse Prevention.
The client, taking an active role, will participate in either a 20-hour group therapy (for mild to moderate diagnosis) or a more intensive 40-hour group therapy (for severe diagnosis). This group therapy is specifically designed for clients in the action stage of recovery, particularly those involved in the legal system such as probation.
Clinicians use evidenced-based, person-centered interventions. These commonly include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Matrix Model, Client-Centered Therapy, and Reality Therapy.
Broken Yokes Counseling's assessment and referral program provides various activities, including prescreening, screening, psychosocial assessment, determination of need, and referral to the appropriate level of care. BYC performs evaluation and referral as a routine entrance function in our core outpatient programs.
The clinician meets the client one-on-one for personalized treatment that suits the client's unique needs. The clinician goes over treatment recommendations with the client, which include therapeutic goals, past experiences, and how to manage symptoms and triggers to live a better and healthier life.
